We strongly condemn the direct attack by MP Grzegorz Braun and the rupture of Prof. Jan Grabowski's lecture at the German Historical Institute

In 2019, following attempts to disrupt the "New Polish School of Holocaust Studies" Conference held in Paris, then Minister of Higher Education Frédérique Vidal wrote: "Neither pressure nor threats can threaten academic freedom. History is a science; it is practiced by historians."
Today, after the hooligan, unprecedented behavior of MP Grzegorz Braun at a lecture by prof. Jan Grabowski at the German Historical Institute in Warsaw, these words should be repeated. Any attempt to limit academic debate, breaking of academic events and blatant violations of the law, combined with direct attacks on participants and organizers - are unacceptable and should never take place.
